Excavator 293 is the biggest. The F60 conveyor bridge in eastern Germany is even more impressive. It is over 500m long and works in conjunction with 2 bucket chain excavators. These can clear up 60m of material at the same time. It looks like Eastern Europe- Germany likes this kind of machines. Can anyone answer why in 1960-1980 they were so popular? The machines will only get bigger, in the race to collect as much ore containing lithium, copper, iron, tin and magnanese  as possible, as this will be used in the fuels and technology of tomorrow. The only mission for bucket wheel excavators is to dig through dirt and rock in order to get to precious minerals but sometimes even these big machines sometimes break down. Will Ilias and his team be able to fix the 40 million pound monster of mining before power supply becomes threatened?
