15 Biggest Ship Collisions and Mistakes Caught On Camera

Hello; The MS Ostend Spirit, previously the MS Pride of Calais, was a car and truck ferry that operated busy UK cross-Channel services for Townsend Thoreson and P&O ferries between 1987 and 2012. In November 2013 she was sent to Turkey for scrapping. I travelled on her many times. A fine ship. I don't understand why people are so fascinated by the log barge recently, they have been operating here for decades. They haul a large amount in a safer fashion and dump out into a booming area to be contained until the logs get pulled into the sawmill. 1 barge is a safer tow than 10 log booms, less chance something will break and wind up with logs hitting other vessels. A lot of these accidents that happened could have been prevented. When two large ships pass one another you need to have a certain distance between the two. The boats are so large that they make their own current. If you ever watch when the US Navy resupply another vessel especially aircraft carriers that some very smart people work out the distance they must keep between them to prevent one boat affecting the other one. To me it just seems like a lot of these commercial captains never received proper training. I'm just glad in this videos nobody lost their life.
