Hello; So basically, with these, there’s no way ships are going to plow into warfs, other ships or docking bays with the gantry cranes. Shout out to the men who build the Titanic’s propellers! Sure they used some sort of cranes and what not but nothing like what is being used today! The ABB Azipod is an alternative power source, it provides a reduction in diesel fuel and carbon footprint, up to 35 percent. It was initially tested in Ferries, then in used in freighters,, tankers,, cargo and cruise ships. It is now used in super yachts. That prop alone is 50 tons holy hell the amount of torque required to spin that thing under water at speeds. Azipod is a trademarked design for azimuth thruster pods produced by the ABB Group. Developed in Finland jointly by the shipbuilding company Masa-Yards and ABB, Azipod is a marine propulsion unit consisting of a fixed pitch propeller mounted on a steerable gondola which also contains the electric motor driving the propeller.
