Remember that the crane raft is equipped with two engines (one on each side at the stern) and rudder. So there was also a skilled helmsman on board the crane. He who sits at the very back on the port side of the last raft, sits with all the controls of the Push Barge that pushes the stern end of the raft. Absolutely amazing technology. Fantastic. Now that is what l call boat handling, pulling at WOT with the odd balls to the wall by a pusher. All done with the windage of a square rigger with feet to spare. These guys are the best waterman on the planet.
