I'm no psycho tree-hugger, just a sportsman and balanced conservationist, but as I grow older myself and gain more wisdom and appreciation for TIME, whenever I see a majestic old growth tree like that felled my heart winces and breaks. What withstood eons of challenges is gone forever in mere hours for a very short term use or profit. Yes trees are "renewable" but at 100-500-1,000+yrs old they should be left untouched. Have areas designated as 'tree farms' where faster growing trees can be harvested, replanted and rotated. Leave the OLD GROWTH for our future children to be in awe of! I remember watching this old cartoon as a kid ( I think it was Looney tunes) that sums it up. It was a scene where this lumberyard was processing hundreds of gigantic tree trunks through about four or five machines. This is some serious stump removal action! The power and precision of that excavator is incredible to watch. It's amazing how quickly and efficiently it can grind through even the biggest stumps. However, I can't help but feel a little uneasy watching such a powerful machine at work. Safety must be a top priority when handling heavy equipment like this. Nonetheless, it's impressive to see what modern technology is capable of achieving.
