Welcome back to the our channel for a feature on exploring the life inside an amphibious assault ship worth billions of dollars, and highlighting its unique capabilities in the ocean. I dig how these ships can carry so much lethality against shore targets all in one ship, compared to a carrier group. Air support on board an assault ship can go a lot of ways. As a Marine from the Viet Nam era I want to thank my Navy friends for all their transport, logistical support, medical support and a thousand other things that they do for us. Without you guys we would be greatly diminished! Semper Fi my brothers on the waves! Prior to deployment to Viet Nam, I was on an LPD and participated in one beach landing in the Phippines. Less than half of the amtracks made it to shore, either by breakdown or being stuck on coral reefs. Both the Navy and Marines are stuck in this antiquated form of warfare.
