Hello; Happened on one of my cruises. Sounded like a bomb went off. Water smashed hard into the ship, woke everyone up. The boats radar avoids storms, but not ocean waves and strong winds. Seems crazy that in these times of advanced technology we still have to lift those on a sinking ship off 1 by 1 at the end of a helicopter wrench. I have been in huge storms on a yacht several times. I guess the reason I love this footage is because I lived through it. With the Grand Voyager, it had an engine failure or some other sort of power failure. Can't remember exactly, but you can tell because it lists much more severely to one side than the other which suggests that the stability systems on one side were not working properly or powered down. Massive, millions of pounds, and completely at the mercy of the sea! Those ships look monstrous near land, but out to sea they're dwarfed by the sheer vastness of it all! A thousand feet long? A few thousand tons? It means nothing when talking about the power of water! These gigantic massive ships are more like bath toys in those merciless waves!
