Welcome back to the our channel for a feature on the challenging process of maintaining the 390lbs wheel of the C-17 aircraft, and the importance of the landing gear system that enables the aircraft to operate on austere runways. We are used to see this kind of vehicles, or any other military equipment in action, but so little about the enormous effort it takes to maintain everything. Days or weeks worth of work for hours or even less of operation. The tires aren’t removed every 120 days. There’s a cord limit that shows when they have to be changed. The rims however have an inspection period for when they have to be inspected and what kind of inspection. Nice video of the maintenance of those C17 wheels.
