US Testing Japan's Super Expensive $160 Million Seaplane

Welcome back to our channel for a feature on a unique Japanese seaplane that is still used to patrol the coastal waters off its coast. Hats off to the Japanese for their continued faith and development in the flying boat. While other countries abandoned the concept, Japan remained steadfast, and now has it down to a science. The US2 could augment USMC operations; it would find uses in the USCG, and prove a valuable asset for maritime drug interdiction. Keeping in mind logistics, repairs/service maybe our military could work with hs Japanese manufacturers of the US2 to develop some multirole parts that could be used to maintain other aircraft currently in service. If we were to purchase maybe 200 of these aircraft, the per unit price would most likely go down. Embed solar cells in the US-2's upper wing/body surfaces. Use the electricity for electrolysis to make hydrogen from sea water to fuel hydrogen powered turboprops. Virtually, unlimited range US-2. Cool aircraft. Good design Japan.
