Welcome back to the our channel for details on what happens when birds damage Air Force Fighter Jets. I was in a West Jet 737 when we hit a flock of ptarmigan just leaving Norman Wells NWT that took out both engines. The pilots did an amazing job getting us all safely back to terra firma. A day that I will never forget as long as I live. Now they do all the bird simulations on the computer. I miss the good old days when they would hook the engine up to a test stand and fire chickens geese and turkeys at it when it was running Dead of course. As a first generation F-15 avionics technician, But I ponder low tech solutions. How about a very loud noise, siren, cleghorn or the such, maybe even an Eagle cry, (get it - the F-15 Eagle) With software that detects birds anywhere in the area and sounds a noise. The passengers, if they can hear it, can just be forewarned about a new safety feature. Naval Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth is in White Settlement not Kingsville. Kingsville is over 6 hours away. And that aircraft that went down went down in my neighborhood.
